COMMITTEES AND CHAIRPERSONS

AMERICANISM COMMITTEE Chairman: Will Lindahl
This committee seeks to inspire love of country and good citizenship through patriotic observances, flag etiquette, civic instruction and community service. Current activities include the US Flag Retirement program, Boys State, American Legion Law Enforcement Career Academy, and Oratorical Contest.

NATIONAL SECURITY COMMITTEE Chairman: Jim Newton
This committee seek to engage in emergency preparedness, promote public safety, and supports local and national civilian defense projects. Currently supports the JROTC programs of local High Schools.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH COMMITTEE Chairperson: TBD
This committee ensures children of veterans in need of care and protection receive proper and timely services and aid, extends connections to verifiable organizations and facilities providing such services, and maintains programs that meet the needs of youth in the local area.

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE Chairman: Raphael Garcia Jr.
This committee is responsible to research and establish the Post’s Scholarship program, form a selection board, and award the scholarships in accordance with American Legion guidelines.

PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE Chairman: James (Dave) Pierce
This committee elevates the awareness in the veterans and Post’s community of the American Legion advocacy of veteran issues, national security, Americanism, and youth. The American Legion is defined in the public eye by the values it demonstrates. This is done through TV, radio,
public service announcements (produced by National), and developing relationships with editors and journalists in the community to cover our programs that support the Legions four pillars.
